Seattle Pride Parade 2014

Today Seattle had its 40th annual Pride Parade.  I had no idea it was that old.  And I’m a little embarrassed to say, as a native only a year older than this parade, I’ve never been to one.  Or maybe I have, but just don’t remember it.  I’ll remember this one though.  It was amazing.  All 4 hours of it (longest parade in the world maybe?).

When I got off the bus on 3rd and Virginia, I had no idea where a good place to watch the parade from would be.  I found this spot on a whim.  Lucky for me, it was right in front of these lovely Emcee Queens.  They were very informative and damn hilarious.

Macklemore was there too, there’s a video clip of him below. For now, here’s a giant balloon octopus.

Even the Space Needle raised the Pride flag.  Because Seattle rules.  In Seattle, you can be who you want, and it’s cool.

Crack Sabbath – Darrells

Seattle’s own Crack Sabbath played two sets at Darrells Tavern in Shoreline last night. All-star cast  Skerik, Ron Weinstein, Keith Lowe, Mike Stone, and Brad Mowen brought it, big time.  Probably my favorite set of theirs ever. It was an epic 3 hours of earth shattering hardcore jazz. Don’t miss these guys next time they play.  You won’t be disappointed.

Suffering Fuckheads

Seattle has a badass Jazz scene.

My friend Rob turned me onto these dudes a few years ago: The Suffering Fuckheads

Two dudes: Ron Weinstein (B3 Organ) Mike Peterson (Drums and Stompboxes), with occasional guests.

They play the Seamonster , Olaf’s, and Hattie’s Hat regularly, no cover (donations appreciated).

Ballard Jazz Walk 2014

Went and saw McTuff at the Lock and Keel tonight during the Ballard Jazz Walk.  They were hella tight, as always.

I guess a pass for the Jazz Walk was $30, but my buddy Tom and I got in for free, since we’re regulars… score!

There was some dude from New York there, who was way stoked on the show, so I clued him in on the Seamonster in Wallingford, where McTuff plays every Tuesday: Seamonster Calendar

Easy Street Records

It’s 6AM and I’m waiting in line for Record Store Day at Easy Street Records in West Seattle. The line is longer than I thought. I also thought they were going to open the cafe at 6, but they didn’t, so now I’m just cold.

Trying to get Built To Spill’s first time ever release of Ultimate Alternative Wavers, and Soundgarden Superunknown for my buddy Ed.

They only let me buy 1 Built To Spill, and Superunknown doesn’t come out till June 3rd. There was some 10″ box set that came out today. This place is a madhouse!
